Two females and another two narrowly escaped death yesterday, when a Lagos-Kano bound train smashed a commercial tricycle on a level crossing along Obasanjo Road in Kano.

The moving train arriving from Lagos subsequently crushed a Dangote Cement truck left on the level crossing next to the final destination of the train.

The Guardian gathered that the unfortunate incident occurred when the tricycle and articulated vehicle were stuck in a light traffic along the level crossing, while the moving train dragged them off the rail line.
Although no life was lost, but the victims were said to have survived with injuries and were rushed to a nearby medical centre.

Confirming the development, spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corp, Kano Sector command, Abdullahi Labaran said four persons were affected in the incident. Although, Labaran said investigation to unravel full details were in progress, he said the injured persons are responding to treatment.

Similarly, a statement released by spokesperson of Kano Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, however said the affected persons are six.

According to him, the rescue team of the service successfully recovered six people, not four including four from the tricycle and two others who also sustained injuries from the impact of the accident near Jifatu Shopping complex.
