Niger governor preaches love, peace
The Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and Borno State Government have donated N12.32 million to wounded soldiers and widows to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.
Announcing the donations at a joint Christmas event in Maiduguri, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, disclosed that 91 wounded soldiers and 50 widows are to benefit from the gesture from the Army, NAF and Borno government.
He charged the soldiers to continue working together to actualise the mandate of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), explaining that the joint military operation was to restore peace in the North East region.
The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, said there should be synergy among the armed forces to end the war that has claimed lives and property.
NIGER State Governor, Abubakar Bello, has said that Christmas season signifies love, joy, peace and hope, values much needed in the society amid insecurity in the state.
In his Christmas message yesterday, Bello enjoined Christian faithful and other residents to be hopeful with its administration’s determination and unwavering commitment to restore peace, security and prosperity to the people of the state.
He re-emphasised that the state government would continue to provide the needed support with the available resources to security agencies to enable them tame insecurity in the state.
