In a move to deepen bilateral relations and foster youth-led development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria, and the Nigerian Bangladesh Business and Technology Forum (NBBTF) have agreed to jointly host a Youth Booth Camp Program.
The decision followed a strategic meeting on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja. The session was hosted by His Excellency, Miah Md. Mainul Kabir, High Commissioner-Designate of Bangladesh to Nigeria, and led by Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi, Director of Reform and Foreign Service Innovation, MFA. Also in attendance were representatives of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and NBBTF, the co-organizers of the program.
The initiative builds on an earlier engagement between the MFA and the High Commissioner-Designate on Friday, September 19, 2025, where the two sides explored innovative avenues for collaboration.
According to the organizers, the Booth Camp will serve as a platform to enhance youth engagement, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange between Nigeria and Bangladesh. With both policy and economic dimensions, the program is designed to strengthen capacity building, skills exchange, ICT, creativity, and innovation.
Highlighting its significance, the Bangladesh edition of the program will commemorate the country’s Youth Year while aligning with Nigeria’s emerging youth diplomacy agenda. The initiative is expected to model the role of the youth demographic in South-South cooperation and sustainable development.
“The Booth Camp is envisioned to bring together policymakers, young leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators from both countries to promote stronger economic relations and explore pathways for sustainable development,” the MFA noted in a statement.
Focus areas for the program include ICT, frontier technologies in shipbuilding and shipbreaking, agritech, fintech, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), among others. By prioritizing innovation-driven collaborations, both nations aim to create a framework for structural youth diplomacy.
To set the stage, an advance delegation comprising NBBTF and ministry officials will travel between October 20 and 25, 2025, to prepare the groundwork. The main ministerial delegation and selected youth executives will participate in the Booth Camp from October 26 to 30, 2025.
Observers believe the initiative could serve as a landmark in strengthening Nigeria-Bangladesh ties, while empowering a new generation of youth leaders to drive economic and diplomatic transformation.
