In commemoration of the International Day of the African Child, the Gombe State Children’s Parliament paid a visit to Al-Guh Orphanage Home in Shongo Idrisa, along Bauchi Road near NTA Gombe, to celebrate the day with the children.

The Speaker of the Children’s Parliament, Ramlat Kasimu Ahmed, accompanied by the Deputy Speaker and other parliamentarians, was supported by the Gombe State Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Miss Asma’u Mohammed Iganus.

As part of the event, the Children’s Parliament, under the supervision of the Ministry, presented food items including cartons of Indomie noodles, bottled water, and Maggi seasoning cubes to the orphanage.

Speaking to journalists, Mrs. Asma’u Iganus emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to improving the lives and standards of children in the state and reaffirmed the readiness of the current administration, through the Office of the First Lady, to support the education of the girl child, particularly through the AGILE Project.

In her remarks, Speaker Ramlat Kasimu Ahmed assured continued support and cooperation from the Children’s Parliament and urged parents and guardians across Nigeria to enroll their children in both Islamic and Western education systems to help shape a better society.

In her response, the Founder of Al-Guh Orphanage, Malama Hajara Yahaya Muhammad, expressed appreciation to the Children’s Parliament and the Ministry of Women Affairs for their consistent support and sacrifices.

She particularly commended Asma’u Iganus and called on other ministries and well-to-do individuals to emulate the gesture.
