The most recent incident occurred last Friday in Dogarawa, a suburb of Zaria in Kaduna State. Residents allegedly looted cartons of spaghetti from a parked truck belonging to BUA Company. Such acts of criminality and disregard for the law cannot be tolerated and must be addressed head-on.
While it is evident that hunger and hardship prevail in the nation, and poverty remains a significant issue, politicians’ weaponization of poverty during the last elections has led to citizens trading their votes for food items. The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) reminds ordinary Nigerians not to succumb to this manipulation, urging them not to partake in criminal activities such as looting.
Expressing deep concern over the soaring prices of essential commodities that have made life unbearable for the majority, the PRP calls upon industrialists, including BUA, to exercise empathy and reason by taking immediate steps to lower the prices of goods. The party emphasizes that businessmen must prioritize the welfare of the people and understand their role in society, particularly in light of the declining value of the dollar.
