Nigeria Communications Commission said it has successfully resolved the interconnect debt dispute between MTN Nigeria Communications Plc. (MTN) and Globacom Limited (Globacom) in a mutually agreed upon resolution.
In a statement signed by Reuben Muoka, Director of Public Affairs at NCC, and made available to journalists in Abuja.
According to the statement, “As a result of this resolution, the disconnection approval granted to MTN for the disconnection of Globacom has been withdrawn.
“Following its initial Public Notice, the Commission stepped in to mediate between the two parties and facilitate the reconciliation process in order to prevent any potential disruptions to subscribers.
The Commission emphasizes the importance of all Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and other licensees within the telecommunications industry adhering strictly to the terms and conditions of their licenses, particularly those regarding interconnection agreements.
To proactively address and prevent future instances of interconnect indebtedness, the Commission will request relevant records and regular updates from MNOs, and take a transparent approach towards industry indebtedness. The Commission said.
