A delegation of three representatives from the African Development Bank (ADB), led by its Task Manager in Nigeria, Engineer John Sifuma, recently concluded an inspection tour on Gombe State. The primary objective was to assess the progress and impact of development projects across three local governments of the state.

The team, accompanied by RUWASSA Management, headed by General Manager Engineer Abduraqqib Muhammad Saeed, initiated their tour at Burari Primary School in Dukku Local Government. This school, among the three selected in the state, witnessed the construction of nine new classrooms and the renovation of six others. Additional facilities included an Information Technology (IT) center, 29 KVA Solar installation, staff quarters, and a perimeter fence to enhance security.

The District Head of Burari, Alhaji Muhammad Babayo Malala, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community to the state governor and the African Development Bank for their commitment to education.

In a similar vein, community leader Abba Manu Burari appreciated the unexpected magnitude of the project, ensuring the team of the community’s responsible use of the facilities for the benefit of all.

The delegation then proceeded to Primary Health Care Centers Malala and Gombe Abba, both undergoing significant overhaul and upgrade. The construction of staff quarters, installation of a 20 KVA Solar system, and the erection of new perimeter fences aim to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the region.

The ADB team also inspected solar boreholes at Comprehensive Health Center CHC Ciroma Quarters in Dukku Town and Waloji village, attesting to their successful operation and impact on the local populace.

Representatives of local governance, including Alhaji Kamalu Gurama and a community leader representing the Emir of Dukku Alhaji Damina Sarduana, assured the ADB team of the proper utilization and protection of the boreholes.

The tour extended to the Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) Center in Luɓo of Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, where ongoing renovations and construction of training blocks showcased a commitment to skill development. The ADB team commended the quality of work, acknowledging the efforts of the contractor, Mr. Danjuma Mele, Managing Director of Universal Technology Limited.

The culmination of the visit involved a courtesy call on Gombe State Deputy Governor Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau. The Deputy Governor appealed for continued support, highlighting the state’s pivotal role in the North East and emphasizing the need for development interventions. He encouraged the ADB team to explore opportunities in the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, showcasing Gombe’s openness to global investments.

The ADB team praised Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration for its visionary ten-year development plan, industrial park initiatives, and the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park project. They expressed interest in potential investment collaborations, underscoring the positive impact of the ongoing partnership between Gombe State and the African Development Bank.
