Shola Adekunle, the publisher of popular online news website, The Genius Media, and his bride, Mumeenat Opeyemi AbdulSalam, have tied the nuptial knot.

The wedding, which had the hashtag #MUJAL ’23, a combination of the bride’s and groom’s names, was held at Imperial Hall, Adjacent Summit University, in Offa, Kwara State, last Saturday, July 8.

Journalists, media practitioners and corporate communications executives elegantly dressed in flowery Agbada besieged the colourfully decorated hall with men and women in shades of white and purple in line with the couple’s wedding colours.

The Saturday wedding was a twin ceremony, with the Islamic marriage also known as Nikkah held around 11 a. m., followed by a glamorous reception graced by families, friends, associates and colleagues. Following the Islamic ceremonies and prayers, guests were treated to sumptuous rounds of meals, choice drinks and good music.

The couple also spared no energy when it was dance time as they both serenaded the audience with various displays of acrobatic dance steps and moves while trying to outdo each other.

Narrating how he met his bride, the groom said they met in Kaduna at a sporting event.

“My wife was participating in a relay race among her Muslim friends when we met. Her exceptional performance got my eyes locked into her and my senses flew away. Like a man under a spell I immediately admired God’s beauty in a human. left what I was doing and started pursuing this babe like a lion after a prey. I don’t know where the courage came from but I walked up to her and started vibing, Alhamdulilahi, the rest is history,” he revealed.

“My wife is God fearing and I love her character and everything about her. I’m so excited I have a friend and life partner in one person. She means the world to me,” the excited groom enthused.

The bride said she admires her partner because he is committed to making their relationship work and makes her happy.

The couple is currently on honeymoon.

Shola, a younger brother to the late Tunmise Adekunle, former Brands and Marketing Editor at Thisday Newspaper, is a respected journalist and PR executive who doubles as the media monitoring coordinator at JSP Communications while his wife works as a medical personnel.

The Ogun State born media practitioner holds a Bachelors degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the Lagos State University (LASU) and is a fervent Muslim.
