• Solomon not in our custody, says NDA

Security operatives on Monday arrested a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officer, Sergeant Torsobo Solomon, over the recent bloody attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna State.

NDA is the apex training institution for all military officers in the country. Terrorists had on August 24, 2021, attacked the NDA, killing two officers and abducting another who was later released.

The officer who was arrested in Yola, Adamawa State capital, is currently attached to the Air Force Comprehensive School in Yola.

A source disclosed that Solomon was arrested with arms and ammunition following an order of the Base Commander as requested by the NDA Commander for an offence connected with the recent attack on NDA, Kaduna.

The source said: “On November 8, around 6:00a.m., NAF07/23922, SGT Torsobo Solomon of 153 BSG (Airforce Comprehensive School Yola) was arrested on the order of the Base Commander as requested by the NDA Commander for an offence connected with arms and ammunition in respect of the recent bandit attack at NDA Kaduna.

“At 8:15a.m., an ATR with registration number NAF 930, arrived to convey him from Yola to NDA Kaduna for further interrogation.”

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, did not respond to enquiries about details of the arrest. It was gathered that the officer is presently being quizzed by Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Reacting, NDA spokesman, Major Bashir Muhammed Jajira, last night said: “The attention of the Nigerian Defence Academy has been drawn to a viral publication on social media regarding the arrest of one Sgt Torsabo Solomon for his involvement on the security breach in NDA who was conveyed to the Academy for investigation.

“This is to inform the general public that the above named person is not in NDA’s custody as alleged and has no connection with the Academy. The NDA is a military training Institution and not an investigative security agency. The general public is hereby advised to disregard this misinformation and refer to relevant investigative security agencies for clarification.

“The NDA wishes to reassure the general public that the perpetrators of the security breach on the Academy architecture will sooner rather than later be apprehended.”
